The above pictures show a Neolithic shrine which is estimated to be about 5000 years old. The south east side of the shrine has an opening to a central gallery which has three pairs of side chambers. Stone Littleton burial chamber is a long barrow as is obvious from the shape. There are many other types of barrows for example round, cone and pond barrows. All coincide with the monuments shape.
Pictures 1 - 8 show you the outside of the shrine. Picture 8 also shows that even today some people still leave gifts for those who may have been buried at these sites.
Pictures 9 - 12 show you the central gallery inside the shrine.
Pictures 13 and 14 are taken from within the central gallery and looking outwards towards the countryside. These were taken to give you a glimpse of what these may have looked like to anyone who ventured in.
This actual barrow is one of the best I have come across so far and gives those wishing to view it a real glimpse of the past.
