Uley Long Barrow is a chambered burial mound or barrow.  It is better known as Hetty Pegler's Tump.

This barrow was built around 3000 B.C or before.  It is about 180 foot long and has a central passage with two chambers either side and a chamber at the rear.

The barrow itself has been excavated twice in 1821 and 1854.  Several skeletons have been found during these excavations.  If you look closely at the above photos you will notice that the rear chamber is blocked off, this is due to it being dangerous and partially collapsed.

This barrow is an excellent Neolithic monument to view and is also free.  Please note though to view inside you will need to take a torch along.
