NEVER SPITE

Barbaric, lost, confused, spiteful.

Such words are thrown at me, thrown at those before me, thrown at our Family.

Oh sweet God embracers, how can you understand?

Long have we bit our tongue and loved you,

And love you still do we.

How can you say I’m barbaric, my ancestors established the first justice?

How can you say I am lost when I found my way through the eyes of my ancestors?

How am I confused when my ancestors established the basis of math?

Oh sweet Christians, how am I spiteful when we have never blamed you for our persecution?

Burn me at the cross, take my baby from my womb, but always shall I embrace you as a friend.

Out of the caves we walked into the new world, staring at a sky we feared.

The time for acceptance has come, my children.

You are but a babe in arms, we have walked Earth longer than your valuable irreplaceable book has existed.

We showed you the way to freedom, we picked you up when they came for you.

Now you victimize me and my brethren, sweet Catholic, what hateful crime have we committed?

When you lay on your deathbed, I will not spit on your grave; never will I curse your death.

I will embrace your hand, singing songs of Paradise.

Burn me at the stake, take my children, disembowel me, sweet Others.

You can hate me and persecute me but I love you.
