HERBS AND THEIR USES
Many throughout ages have kept near their homes an herbal garden.... throughout the ages "Old Practitioners" named witches by others have taken great places within our world to bring health and comfort to those ailing...Midwives were among those called forth.. they held with them the knowledge of plant life and the many uses required to heal even the simplest of discomforts a cold...all the way to herbs to ease pain during childbirth and delivery.. holding a High status in their villages and often redeemed as Having special Powers.. it wasn’t until the "craze" that the status was dropped and such goodwives were often sought tried and executed.... Until that time Herbs have been and continued to take their place not only in casting but in our own Health matters... I myself for one would trust a plucked leaf from My Garden, or a piece of bark from a willow..then a Doctor. I’ve found they also assist in basic every day functions. A Tea I have found is made from a Mushroom that has to be grown its a Kabuchi Mushroom.... Spelling might be off on the type the pronunciation however is that as which you see typed. It has done everything from assist in Weight loss... to helping My Step Father grow hair.... its thin but he still digests the tea if you care for the recipe I will have it in fact posted with the correct spelling eventually in Due time for now... I’ve formed a list of basic herbs. any warnings can be found in Red as a Caution to other readers
You will find included Magikal Uses and Medicinal purposes... any questions can be directed many of these can be found at a local store or sent for by catalog. Most are easy to grow taken that it doesn’t get to cold though I myself recommend a large pot that can be brought in during the cold months, My herbal Garden consists of three large pots... alternated with compost and topsoil...later in the months brought in when the heat is too great and just when frost begins....it saves on plant damage to say the least.
Angelica to begin with the alphabetical listing is controlled by the sun if you wish to speak of Planetary alignment, the Elemental is Fire referred often by the common listing of Archangel and Masterwort Angelica's magickal uses are mainly protection, breaking hexes, exorcism, love spells, and spiritual healing. It is also used to give a person temperence.
Medicinal Uses are as followed Angelica can treat digestive difficulties, and can assist in treating colds.
Anise is controlled by Mercury and can be used in cooking though it itself has no medicinal purposes to MY knowledge to say the least it is used for awakening subtle, psychic influences needed for magick. It is associated with uncrossing, dream magick, lunar magick, psychic development, and spirit conjurations. Star Anise is used to wear as a necklace when performing outdoor rituals.....Might I add it’s a liquorice flavor..great for carrot cake with a twist. Followed from Anise is Assyfetida My knowledge is still growing any corrections to be made then I apologize as I learn more I can simply supply such Knowledge at a later date, as said this is a basic outline recipes and preparation will come soon, controlled by Mars the elemental Fire it is known as Asafoetida, and Devil's Dung. It has its own uses both for magical purposes and Medicinal Magickal Uses, Assyfetida can be used in dispelling evil spirits, banishment, exorcism, purification, and protection. Medicinal Uses, It is used to ward off colds, fevers, and flu’s.

When burning Assyfetida, it tends to make the room smell HORRIBLE!!!!!!
Basil is controlled by Mars, the Elemental being Fire Known often as St Josephs wort, and properly named (Witches' Herb) Magickal Uses are mainly for protection. It can also cause sympathy between two people. It is used in love divinations, and making sure a lover stays true. It is good for success and good luck. It is associated with uncrossing, exorcism, love, money, protection, and success. It treats intestinal parasites, skin infections, and kills bacteria.It is sacred to the South quarter, and is used in consecration of the Athame. It is also a good offering to the God.
Belladonna (POISONOUS) Planet is known as Saturn its Elemental water it is similar to Nightshade covered shortly in this posting, seeing as how it has NO healing value with the fact of being Poisonous I can only list uses for Casting and conjuring, Belladonna is used to catch rapists, thieves, murderers, and to control abusive personalities. You can do this by crushing the herb and placing it in poppets or conjuring bags. It also binds negative energy. Belladonna is sacred to Bellona.
Boneset (Fresh Boneset is TOXIC) Again the Planet is Saturn the Elemental is water often called Indian Sage. Boneset is widely used for protection during travelling, but it is also used in money spells, and uncrossing. It can be bound and burned for any cleansing ritual when handling it fresh please be sure to wash your hands its medicinal purposes it has been found to treat colds, indigestion, constipation, and to break fevers.
Buckeye (POISONOUS) Again the planet is Jupiter Fire Elemental it’s often found to be called or referred to as Horse Chestnut. Used to attract success and wealth its association is often to ward off arthritis, rheumatism, chills, and backaches.
Celandine (POISONOUS) controlled by the sun another Fire Elemental it has both conjuring purposes as well as Medicinal varying from getting a person out of fix where no escape is seen, physically or mentally. It is used in legal
matters to win favor, it brings joy and happiness. It can banish depression, stop arguments, and overcome enemies. It is associated with dream magick. Externally it is used for swelling, Tuberculosis, and skin abrasions. (DON’T DIGEST).
Chamomile controlled by the sun has the element of water....it has a wide array of uses both for Conjuring and Healing. Chamomile is a widely known herb sold mainly as tea. It can be used for money, good fortune, promoting
sleep, relaxation, and it is also brewed for Rights of Passage due to its tranquil qualities, there is almost nothing that this plant can't do. It is used for digestion, easing menstrual cramps, treating ulcers, arthritis relief, and stimulating the Immune system. It is Fabulous for a sore throat. Also remarkable with a little Lemon and a shot of whiskey to sweat out fevers. Some Practitioners brush their broom with Chamomile when consecrating it. It is sacred to Midsummer.
Cinnamon is controlled by the sun the following elemental being fire its primary functions are to raise spiritual vibration, money spells, and is associated with dream magick, love magick, psychic development, and spiritual healing. as well as for sinus treatment, preventing infection, relieving pain, and reducing blood pressure. It does have a side use for those with pets.. Ants cannot stand the smell a ground bit of cinnamon about a window or door will prevent the little pests from taking over.
Cinnamon is sacred to Yule, Aphrodite, Venus, and Mercury.
WARNING:
Cinnamon oil causes skin irritation, and should not be used internally. It should also not be used for body anointing.
Cloves controlled by Jupiter and Fire is used for money, purification, stopping gossip, and when used as an oil, can be placed on doors, and windowsills to drive away evil. It is associated with psychic development, protection, exorcism, divination, and uncrossing.It is used as an anaesthetic, antiseptic, and digestive aid for those that take it medicinally.
Coltsfoot Often referred to as Coughwort is controlled by the Planet Venus the elemental being water, is used only for love potions and protection, for treating colds, flu, congestion, and external swellings. Slippery Elm can be
substituted, as Coltsfoot is banned in Canada.

Comfrey is used for protection while travelling, preventing theft or loss on journeys, and certain money spells.
Medicinal Uses:
It was once used to wrap broken bones and flesh. Today it is used as a tea to heal wounds and aid digestion. It also promotes cell growth.
This herb is also banned in Canada.
Cowslip
Planet: Venus

Other Names: Frauenschlussel
Magickal Uses:
Cowslip is used to discourage guests, to create an enchanting aura, preserve youth, and divination.
Medicinal Uses:
It is used to treat colds, bronchitis, eczema, fevers, migraines, and vertigo.
It is sacred to Freya.
Coxcomb (Not For Internal Use)

Magickal Uses:
Coxcomb is used to speed healing. The red heads of the plant were used to call forth the dead, cure minor bodily ailments, and mend a broken heart.
Fennel
Planet: Mercury

Magickal Uses:
Fennel is used for protection of people and objects. It is associated with spiritual purification, spiritual healing, love magick, and uncrossing.
Medicinal Uses:
It is used to eliminate body odours, aid in digestion, colds, and flu’s. It is also a mosquito repellent.
It is sacred to Adonis, Dionysus, and Prometheus.
WARNING:
Fennel oil is not to be ingested, and may also cause skin irritation.
Fenugreek
Planet: Mercury
Element: Air
Magickal Uses:
Fenugreek is used to bring money and prosperity.
Medicinal Uses:
The seeds are used for sore throat, high cholesterol, easing arthritis, and stimulating the uterus.
Five Finger Grass
Planet: Jupiter
Element: Fire
Other Names: Cinquefoil
Magickal Uses:
Each finger of the plant is associated with something different. The five points are love, money, health, power, and wisdom. It is also used for breaking hexes.
Foxglove (POISONOUS)
Magickal Uses:
Foxglove is used to give the one who uses it magickally, strong sexual love. It is also associated with Faeries, Elves, and Woodland spirits. As well as protection and spirit conjurations.
Foxglove has no Medicinal purposes persay but its beautiful when it grows...the leaves can be boiled to create a sweet syrup...it can cause heart attacks with an overdose but has been known to contain a drug within that is used in prescription heart medicine it works by causing the heart to increase allowing blood to flow if taken and overdosed it causes a natural heart attack and cannot be detected..hence why I have it listed as poisonous..... leave it to a Docs hands please
Gag Root (POISONOUS)
Planet: Saturn
Element: Water and Fire
Other Names: Lobeila
Magickal Uses:
Gag Root is known for stopping gossip. It is either placed in poppets, or burned. By casting this herb into the wind, it is said that a thunderstorm can be avoided.
Garlic

Magickal Uses:
Garlic is widely known for it's protective qualities. It protects against real, surreal, and imagined foes. Everyone knows that it protects against vampires, real or psychic. It also magickally absorbs disease and pain. It can break a fever as well. It can be used to protect dreams, remove negativity from an object, and ward off psychic attack. It is associated with exorcism, protection from the Evil Eye, and spiritual purification.
Medicinal Uses:
It is used to kill bacteria, food poisoning, bladder infections, flu, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and counteracts lead poisoning. ALSO if added to your pets food it is helpful in preventing fleas and ticks..the buggers can’t stand it....

Hemlock (POISONOUS)

Magickal Uses:
Hemlock is used to make a man impotent. When poppets are stuffed or rubbed with it, it is said to weaken a sorcerer who has put a hex upon you.

Henbane (POISONOUS)

Magickal Uses:
This plant is excellent for banishing and removing unwanted circumstances from your life. It also improves clairvoyance.
It is sacred to Hecate.

Holly (POISONOUS)

Holly is used for protection, sweet dreams, carried for good luck, and planted along the home to ward off evil spirits, wild animals and harmful sorcerers.

Horehound

Horehound is used as a protection against sorcery and unethical magick. It is used to exorcise evil spirits, invite clarity of mind, and promote healing. It is associated with spiritual healing.
Medicinal Uses:
It is used to treat colds and flu’s.
It is sacred to Horus.
Hound's Tongue
Planet: Mars

Other Names: Gypsy Flower
Magickal Uses:
Hound's Tongue was used along with the right chant to silence dogs.

Mistletoe is an extremely magickal plant. It is used in magick dealing with protection, healing, love, fertility, sweet dreams, casting out bad spirits, luck, and discerning which path is the right one to take. It is associated with good luck, uncrossing, dream magick, exorcism, love magick, and protection.
It is sacred to the East quarter, Yule, Freya, Venus, Odin, and is used in consecration of the Pentacle.
In Norse mythology, Baldur was killed with a arrow made of Mistletoe. When Freya and Odin convinced the God of the Underworld to let Baldur come back to Earth, they gave the plant to the Goddess of Love in honour of their son. That is why you must always kiss someone with whom you are standing when you pass underneath Mistletoe, to honour the Goddess of Love.
