THE COSMIC EGGThe most dominant symbol in the creation myth is that of the cosmic egg.
In many myths once the egg is shattered the forces which are needed for creation to begin are released.
In Egypt and India the cosmic egg is sometimes fertilized by a serpent, but more often by a giant bird.
This then gives form to chaos from which the golden yolk (The Sun) is hatched, which in turn leads to the division of Earth and Sky and the multiplicity of life, natural and supernatural.
The creation symbolism of the cosmic egg is enhanced by the shape being like a testicle and obviously in the female egg factor itself.
In places like the Congo the yolk signifies female warmth and the egg white the male sperm.
The waters on which the primeval egg float is also a creation symbol for formlessness, limitless but full of possibilities and this symbolism is called the primordial waters.
Another common theme in the creation myth is that of the creation from destruction myth. Where some kind of older race whether being Gods, Giants or Titans are destroyed for the new creation to begin. This enhances the prospect that before modern man there was probably an ancient race which may have been far superior to ours.
In psychology beings such as giants are often seen as symbols of parental authority. Which suggests that these ancient myths may have had a similar basis in their meaning. This theory also enhances the prospect of an ancient civilisation before our own.
The cosmic egg myth is also intriguing as it points to the theory of a Goddess rather than a God as quite a few of these myths have the God being born from this egg.
