The Roman Amphitheatre, Chester.
This amphitheatre is classed as the largest in Britain. It measures 100 x 85m. Excavations have shown that this amphitheatre would sit around 7000 spectators. If you go onto the grassed area you can actually see traces of the seating area.
At this moment in time (2006) there are new excavations being carried out which are fenced off for obvious reasons. Picture 9 shows how the area looked back in 1998 when I visited the site.
The Nemesium is a shrine built to the Greek Goddess Nemesis.
